Описание к видео How to do the Dead Bug Exercise - Better than Crunches for Core Strength?

🙄 SO MANY fitness classes finish with a bunch of ab work, most of which is not very functional and could actually be dangerous for your back. 🤦‍♀️

As a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, I’m not a big fan of most of those classic ab exercises…like sit-ups, bicycle crunches, V-ups, etc. They force you to flex your lumbar spine over and over (not awesome), and if your abs aren’t particularly strong, you end up just using your hip flexors to do all the work (not awesome, either).

➡️ And for someone with a history of back pain and overly tight hip flexors, this is NOT ideal.

So instead of feeling like a grumpy stick-in-mud, refusing to do the moves with the rest of the class, I always substitute in these dead bugs. 🐞 And of course, this is great even if you’re NOT in a group class!

Dead bugs are a far superior core exercise that actually trains your deepest layers of core muscles, wrapping your spine with muscular stability and strengthening your abdominals at the same time. Plus, it’s a good little challenge for your coordination 😉

Make sure to follow my cues to ensure you’re properly engaging your core and getting the most of out the movement!👍
