Stability retraining for after an ankle sprain is super important in order to regain the strength control and motor patterning following injury.

For many people, ankle sprains result in functional and structural instability of the ankle, which you need to help improve with stability training, not just strengthening and conditioning.

The BOSU is a great tool that you can use to help you with this. Here are four exercises that I would use for ankle sprain or surgery rehab once you’ve completed the basic floor exercises i.e. standing on the floor on one leg, to progress you to the plyometric and return the sport exercises that you would need to do when return to running or sport.

1️⃣ Single Leg Balance on the BOSU
2️⃣ Single leg compass on the BOSU
3️⃣ Step down on the BOSU
4️⃣ BOSU Side Step
