LIU KANG PLAYTHROUGH

In Mortal Kombat II, Liu Kang is now wearing a bandana and pants with a red line (matching the colour). Canonically the champion of the first Mortal Kombat, Liu Kang is back with an expanded move set.

He also gains three new moves. His Fireball can now be shot when he is airborne and when he is crouched, giving him a zoning edge over other character. He also gains his famed Bicycle Kick which deals a lot of damage in MK2 before being nerfed in later games.

Against the CPU, Liu Kang can use most of his move at its advantage. Well timed jump kick can be chained with an air Fireball and a sweep, removing at least 40% of the opponent life bar. His bicycle kick can also be chained with a roundhouse or Flying Kick. Liu Kang can evade every projectile (but his own Low Fireball or Kitana’s Fan) if he shoots a Low Fireball at the same time as his opponent’s projectile.

As a side note, CPU Liu Kang can spam his Bicycle Kick over and over (but he doesn’t do that under most circumstances, limiting himself with two consecutive hits). Since the move requires to hold Low Kick for 3 seconds, the player can’t do this.
